The Story

Hong Kong is ranked as one of the Alpha+ World Cities, but space availability is vastly different from other cities for

historical, political, and economic reasons.

So- called “coffin apartments”, “caged houses" and “capsule homes” are home to over 300,000 poor

individuals and young professionals who live in the bowels of this powerful financial hub.

These tiny spaces offer the elderly and young professionals their only possibility of mental respite and physical shelter. These underprivileged residents pay high monthly rents in often illegally subdivided flats or in micro-futuristic legalised dwellings.
